Garbage Collection Schedule

Collection Days and Routes:

Every Monday Collection:
From the South Borough line up to and including Bridge Street

Every Wednesday Collection:
All streets north of Bridge Street up to and including Plank Road and Mix Ave.

Every Friday Collection:
All streets north of Plank Road and Mix Ave., to the North Borough line

Refuse collection stickers can be purchased at the following locations: Dandy Mini Marts (Wysox, N. Towanda, and Towanda), Tops Market, Hurley's Towanda, and Ben Franklin and Towanda Municipal Building


Spring Cleanup Days

Spring cleanups will be held during the months of May and June. Residents can call NTSWA @ 297-4177 to arrange to have cleanup materials picked up on the curb for half the cubic yard price.

There will be a free Drop-off for cleanup materials at the Towanda Sewer Plant in May.

Dates will be announced.

Details available at the Municipal Building.


Curbside Recycling Information

All Towanda Borough residential households are collected every other Thursday (see calendar).
Set out source separated recycling by 7:00 am.
ITEMS NOT PROPERLY PREPARED WILL BE LEFT AT THE CURB.

Acceptable Items:

Newspapers - Black or colored, leave inserts.
Keep dry. Do not bundle or tie: place in bag or box.

Aluminum Cans - Beverage cans only. Rinse well.

Steel/Tin Cans - Rinse, place lid inside can, labels can remain.

Glass Bottles - Rinse, remove lids & rings. Labels can remain, separate by color.

Plastic Jugs & Bottles - Must have a "bottle or jug shape", where neck is smaller than base. Rinse well, labels can remain.

Magazines & Catalogs - Remove plastic wrapping, do not bundle or tie.

Junk Mail and Mixed Paper - Envelopes, flyers, brochures, office paper, colored paper, phone books. No metal bindings or paper clips, staples can remain.

Corrugated Cardboard Boxes - Ridged layers only.  Flatten into pieces no larger than 3ft. Not accepted - tissue, cereal, macaroni or non-ridged pizza boxes.


Special Collections

Yard Waste - Must prearrange at Municipal Building to drop off at old Bridge St. Landfill.

Leaves - Drop off at Elm St. site during October and November. There is curbside pickup of bagged leaves in late November.

Christmas Trees - Curbside pickup to be announced beginning January 10th.
